Utgarde Keep is located just north of Valgarde, in the alarming looking tower that looks like it might contain an instance or two. There are two quests associated with the instance: Disarmament}}, which requires you to collect a bunch of weapons (there are enough in the instance for a full five-man to complete the quest); and [[http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=11252|Into Utgarde!, which requires you to kill the last boss. Both can be picked up just outside the Keep proper and both are sharable. If you didn't see a questgiver on the way in, turn left and continue hugging the left wall till you get to the other entrance -- he's right out there.
From the entrance: clear trash mobs. There's nothing very alarming about them. Your first cool room is the big round one with firey walls; the walls will go down as you kill the trash mobs. Splat splat splat. This is followed by a room full of proto-dragons and handlers: don't miss the one directly to your left! Point dragons away from the group, please.
Then you'll hit...
Really not hard. Clear his trash first. The four mobs are linked, but they are not linked to him.
Boring abilities: Shadow Bolt, which hits his aggro target. He melees too.
Interesting abilities: Ice Tomb. This puts a random character into an Ice Tomb, which can be targeted and damaged. It lasts for 20 seconds and causes 400 damage per second; you can reportedly Blink out of it. One assumes paladins and rogues and perhaps hunters can do smart tricks too. Maybe the new human racial works! However, DPS should retarget and just kill the Ice Tomb.
If the tank is Ice Tombed, Keleseth will continue to beat on him.
Also, Keleseth summons five fairly harmless skeletons. When they die, they come back to life. Assign a mage or a warlock or a hunter to AoE these down, or try and AoE tank them. They don't hit hard and only have a few thousand health.
OK, take your loot, move on. You're going to hit some undead now, and you'll spend a lot of time trending upwards. A lot of the undead are non-elites, so don't worry about waiting for the tank to pull 'em. Do wait if there's an elite in the pack, though, so that you don't die. Be smart. Go up some stairs. Meet...
Pretend they're Romeo and Juliet. They aren't, but when one dies he comes back to life as an untargetable spirit with the exact same abilities, so you want to burn one down to 10%, then kill the other one, then kill the rest of the first one.
Dalronn casts Debilitate on I think random targets; it's not a curse. Is it a magic effect? I can't take magic off people so I don't know. It's a debuff with a DoT, so removing it is good. He also Shadow Bolts random people. There's lots of random damage here.
Skarvald is a melee type. He has a knockback. He also has a charge, so stand right on top of him. No, closer than that -- the minimum range is less than 10 yards. He's supposedly resistant to magic, so possibly magical DPS should work on Dalronn while melee works on Skarvald. Depends on the tank, really.
Take more loot and keep on going. You're getting pretty close. Eventually (more stairs are involved) you emerge to the top of Utgarde Keep. Admire the view! The proto-drakes up here with riders are easy but the rider hops off once you kill the drake, so don't get caught napping. In due time you will come upon...
Ha ha, it's not fun anymore. Kidding! Still fun.
