Anub'arak himself is not the hard part of this fight. The intermediate, progressively harder bug phases are the hard part.
Pound is completely avoidable. It's a frontal cone spell, and Anub'Arak stands still while casting it. The tank can run through the boss during the cast, then flip him back around once he's done, and no one should get hit by it.
After resurfacing, Anub'Arak can bug out and wander away from the tank, and face against the wall. I've seen this happen twice out of about 15 attempts. I don't know if there's anything that triggers this. The bad part is that his facing seems to still be towards the tank, no matter what it looks like. I was fully behind him during one of these, and was still hit by Pound. If this happens, I suggest just staying the hell away from him and the tank.
Phase 1 features non-elite mobs that hop into the center of the platform. These are easy and can be handled by ranged DPS or AOE effects. These will be present in all the phases. Two elite Guardians come down the web ramp. They're melee mobs and should be picked up by the tank. This phase isn't hard.
Phase 2 gets harder. After the two Guardians come down the ramp, two Venomspitters come down a little bit later. These do an AOE poison spit, and are the most dangerous mobs in the raid. DPS should focus on these mobs and get them down as fast as possible. Stun and interrupt the spits as much as possible.
Phase 3 is all of phase 2, along with some flying mobs. Again, prioritize killing the Venomspitters when they come down the ramp. I'd save Heroism for Phase 3.
